Grace Dillon (Anishinaabe/VS) is professor Indigenous Nations
Studies Program aan de Portland State University en samensteller van
Walking the Clouds: An Anthology of Indigenous Science Fiction, waarin
verhalen van de oorspronkelijke bewoners van de Verenigde Staten zijn
samengebracht met verhalen uit Afrika, het Midden-Oosten, de Stille
Zuidzee en overige delen van de wereld.
Dillon introduceert de term
‘Indigenous Futurism’, die net als Afrofuturisme verschillende
kunstdisciplines omvat. “Writers of Indigenous futurisms … change the
perimeters of sf. Liberated from the constraints of genre expectations …
they have room to … stretch the boundaries; and, perhaps most
significantly, to reenlist the science of indigeneity.”
